Nat Johnson And The Figureheads

NAT JOHNSON is the former singer, songwriter and guitarist of Monkey Swallows the Universe who released two critically acclaimed albums earlier in the decade. The five-piece toured with the likes of Richard Hawley, the Long Blondes and Camera Obscura, played a host of festivals and performed live sessions for Radio 4 and 6music among others.

The band split in 2008 and Nat embarked on a solo career. Her debut solo single, ‘Dirty Rotten Soul’ was released in September 2008 and was made Single of the Week by Steve Lamacq. Nat has now assembled backing band The Figureheads and released the debut album ‘Roman Radio’ in October 2009. We also released double A-side single featuring “Wonderful Emergency” taken from the album, backed with a version of the Beach Boys’ classic “Don’t Worry Baby”. The Figureheads include Kevin Gori, co-founder of Monkey Swallows the Universe, Chris Loftus, formerly of Fury of the Headteachers and Neil Piper of Champion Kickboxer.

A second single “Wasted” taken from the album backed with an exclusive B-side will follow in early 2010. Recently Nat has received great radio plays on Radio 2, 6Music, XFM, as well as several live radio sessions.
