ROXY EPOXY - DEBUT ALBUM ON THE WAY

ROXY EPOXY (Ex lead singer of THE EPOXIES) AND THE REBOUND will have their debut album released by DG in Europe on the 6th April 2009 It’s on LP (exclusive to us) / CD & Download and the cat number is DAMGOOD 332 ROXY ON MYSPACE Often associated with such fierce and striking artists as Karen O, Siouxsie Sioux, and Chrissie Hynde, Roxy Epoxy made a lasting impact on the punk and indie community in her former band, The Epoxies. Now, freshly rejuvenated and ready to tackle the music industry with both fists and a great set of pipes, Roxy embarks on the next chapter of her musical career with her newly-minted band Roxy Epoxy And The Rebound. Their new album Band-Aids On Bullet Holes gets released on March 10, 2009 via Metropolis Records. “I think The Rebound are a bit more introspective than The Epoxies,” explains Roxy. “The music is more intricate and is a bit more rock than pop. When the Epoxies broke up, I had a ton of material at different states of completion and finally had the time to dig into it. I had wanted to head in a slightly different direction for a while. This is the result.” This result is a dynamic album of punkified New Wave and synth-infused rock that stomps when it should skip and gallops when it should sway. The herky-jerky pop Banshee-esque goodness of “New Way” hearkens the early anarchic days of the London Underground, while the thrusting and velvet-texture of “I Know I Know” adds atmosphere and drenches it with drama. The melodic infectiousness of “Dependence Leads Your Fortune” is a propulsive and explosive stunner with meandering keyboards and swirling guitars, punctuated with Roxy’s extremely distinctive vocals. “I think I am most proud of ‘Dependence Leads Your Fortune’,” she says. “I just feel it’s the strongest song I’ve written so far… I’ve only been writing and performing music since late 2000,”. Formed in 2000 in Portland, OR, Roxy’s former band The Epoxies burst on the scene with a handful of 7″ singles and albums on influential Pacific Northwest labels such as Dirtnap and Fat Wreck Chords before releasing their final EP My New World on Metropolis. Feeling the need to feed her hunger to create even more music, Roxy Epoxy began writing after the band’s break-up. The resulting album Band-Aids on Bullet Holes isn’t a solo record as it is the genesis of her next band. “I’m still using the name Roxy Epoxy, sure, but this wouldn’t have progressed this far without the people I’ve had the pleasure of working with,” she explains. “It started out as a solo project as Drat [guitarist and co-writer of the album] and I wrote in his living room. It was based on many songs I had written during The Epoxies. But, when you add more people, the whole thing broadens. I like to have outside input.” With tour dates getting locked down, the energetic Roxy Epoxy is excited to bring the new songs to an audience of fans and new faces. “I love performing and can’t keep still when it comes down to it,” she says. “It should be high energy and exciting to watch. I really like interacting with people during performance. I’m always up for someone jumping up and doing some singing or dancing with us.”...

Revillos drummer tells all in new book!

THE RHYTHM METHOD by Nicky Forbes – Now available via the Damaged Goods web-shop. A no holds barred, must-read by the drummer of cult band The Rezillos/Revillos What happened on tour, stayed on tour: until now… It’s all in The Rhythm Method, a stonking, romping rock memoir of the 1970s punk scene and beyond into the 1980s, by Nicky Forbes (aka Rocky Rhythm). Delve into The Rhythm Method and experience what it was like to appear on Top of the Pops and play gigs across the world at a time when youth culture was rebellious, before every band had a stylist, labels were worn on the inside of clothes and mobile communication was to yell out of the window of a moving car. You’ll be right there: backstage, onstage, and in the hotel room… You’ll sign to Virgin and record at Abbey Road, have sordid sex in low places, be idolised, and then be discarded. The author takes you on a journey around the inner workings of a rock group. He throws you right inside the band’s van, on an ill-advised and relentless tour across America. You’ll be in the thick of the squabbles, the laughs and the punch-ups. And you’ll hang out with dozens of infamous groups and characters from a fascinating and unparalleled period of recent musical history. Former ‘Never Mind The Buzzcocks’ presenter Mark Lamarr says: “The Rhythm Method kept me up two nights in a row. One reading it, the next night trying to erase the sex scenes from my mind. A handy reminder never to be in a band. Even a great one.” With a cover designed by renowned lowbrow fetish artist Vince Ray, The Rhythm Method is destined to become an instant cult classic. Title: The Rhythm Method Author: Nicky Forbes ISBN 978-0-9545985-3-2 256 pages 30 previously unpublished photographs Size: 208mmx138mm Price: £14 Publisher: Suffolk and Watt Publishers See www.revillos.co.uk/rhythm...

HOLLY GOLIGHTLY & THE BROKEOFFS - NEW SINGLE & ALBUM

‘DIRT DON’T HURT’ CLEAR VINYL LP / CD OUT 29.9.08 (DAMGOOD 315) ‘MY 45′ WHITE, CLEAR or BROWN VINYL out 22.9.08 (DAMGOOD 314) Back with their second album I’m sure you already know that Holly Golightly & The Brokeoffs are Holly Golightly and Lawyer Dave (A one man drum & guitar extravaganza). Since their debut album, ‘You Can’t Buy A Gun When You’re Crying’ (Damgood 283 LP/CD) they have been touring the world including two, three month tours of the States and one 2-3 month hike around Europe including Holly’s biggest ever tour of the UK. They stopped off in Spain to record this album in late May and it follows on really well from the first album, in fact it’s an even better album with tracks ‘it’ like the first single ‘My 45’ (Damgood314) a great song about marital bliss and a re-recording of their last single ‘I Wanna Hug You, Kiss You, Squeeze You (Till my arms fall off). Here’s what Holly & Dave have to say about the album… “In the studio…This particular project was recorded in the middle of a 50 date tour during the only break we had. That week found us in Gijon, Spain on the Northern coast. We had chosen to record there at an analog studio by the name of Circo Perotti which is outfitted with a lovely selection of vintage microphones and loads of ancient outboard treasures to play with. After wrangling with all the ghosts, goblins and gremlins that inhabit gear and studios of this nature, the record was completed in five days… which is one more day than we spent the last one, so it may seem a little over produced to some! While we must admit it was probably not the most carefully recorded string of sounds ever committed to tape, we do feel that it suits the songs. We were a bit weary and dirty. If you listen close, you’ll hear the mud on our shoes on more than a few tracks. This record is called “Dirt Don’t Hurt”, because it doesn’t. It was produced by us. hgandthebo x Track Listing 1.
