DAMAGED GOODS BOOKS

DAMAGED GOODS BOOKS has been set up to publish books about London, record collecting, bands and artists from the Punk and Garage worlds as well as anything else that comes along which we find interesting.

We are starting small, with 2-3 books in the first year and then we may look for more titles moving ahead.

Our first book came out in June 2020…

Did you get tinnitus from too many gigs at The Bull and Gate?
Spent your youth propping up the bar at The Marquee Club?
Or witness early gigs by rock legends on Eel Pie Island?

Then this book is for you!

Paul Talling takes a look at some of London’s much-missed music venues from the post-war period to the present day.

Featuring photos, adverts & tickets, this book is a portal to a less homogenised London, taking you back to the city’s halcyon days of jazz, blues, folk, rock, punk, indie and more.

You can now pre-order this from any local book shop or record shop or online via Waterstones, Gaunt Books, Foyles, Book Depository, Amazon and all other good sources worldwide.

A follow up volume (volume 2 no less!) is due out in June 2022. This latest book from Paul Talling focusses on the larger Theatre size venues. Paul will be taking part in a signing session/Q&A at Rough Trade East on June 28th. The event will also feature an acoustic set by TV Smith.

In August 2022 we’ll be releasing 1-2 Cut Your Hair: The Story of Johnny Moped. A biography of your favourite punk band written by ex-NME journalist Simon Williams. The band are scheduled to play two launch events for the book – an acoustic show/Q&A at London’s Rough Trade East on August 11th, with a full band electric show at the Hope & Anchor in Islington on August 12th.
