WAT TYLER

First heard of Wat Tyler when their single Contemporary Farming Issues came out on Rugger Bugger Records in the late 80’s. DG33-WTThey used to play at crusty gigs and support snuff a lot too. I got to know Sean (who runs Rug Bug with Ben) and had to do a single. Sean said he wanted to do a piss take of Madonna’s Sex book with a single, it seemed like a daft idea so I agreed. They sorted out the photo session and the results were fantastic, really funny stuff, the single was pretty good too.

So the single came out in a 20 page booklet sleeve and immediately got single of the week in the NME and Mega single of the fortnight in Kerrang! and then the national press got hold of it, bikes started arriving at DG HQ from national newspapers. The Sunday Sport did a full page feature on it and we got bits in The Sun and Star too (all the quality papers!). All this helped it get in the top 10 of the indie chart where it remained for over a month.

We later did a limited picture disc version of it too.
