The Pukes gig for Lindsay

Earlier this year we lost our friend and bandmate Lindsay to cancer.

Most of us met Lindsay for the first time back in 2011 at the first Pukes meeting at The Royal Sovereign in Hackney, though Lorna knew her from years back in her Hackney squat-punk days.

Lindsay and her trademark resonator uke were with us all the way on our amazing ukulele adventures, which have taken us from our east London local boozer to gigs in Europe, the Tate Modern, Somerset House, Rebellion Festival, St Pauli football stadium and many other places in between.

Lindsay was one of a kind; a true free spirit who loved playing music and working with animals.

She played bass in a punk band called The Triads back in the 80s and liked to play the Melodica too. She spent years living and working with horses all over the world, from Richmond Park to Ireland, St Lucia and South Africa. Lindsay was an amazing dancer. She loved being outdoors.

We’re putting on an afternoon of live music to celebrate the wonderful times we had with Lindz at The Sov on Sunday 11th September. The gig is free, but we’re collecting donations to be shared between Princess Alice Hospice and mental health charity Friends of Cathja.
